Manchester Queen Black Gold Limited Edition
Manchester Queen Black Gold Limited Edition belongs to the Manchester Queen / Compact series, featuring a distinctive black-and-gold design and the Queen Tube Filter system.
Unlike the traditional Manchester King Size and Round Corner ranges, the Queen collection incorporates a tube-style filter construction. This gives Manchester Queen Black Gold its own identity within the wider Manchester cigarette range.
What Makes Manchester Queen Black Gold Different?
The main difference is its Queen Tube Filter, a specialised filter construction developed for the Queen collection.
According to the product information, this system is designed to influence airflow and flavour delivery. The tube-style construction distinguishes it from conventional cigarette filters, although it does not establish any reduction in smoking-related health risks.
The Black Gold edition is also identified by its packaging and Queen / Compact classification, separating it from the more familiar Manchester Red, Blue and Gold product families.
Manchester Queen Black Gold vs Other Manchester Cigarettes
Manchester Queen Black Gold Limited Edition is not simply a different packaging colour. Its Queen / Compact classification and filter construction distinguish it from other Manchester variants.
| Manchester Variant | Main Difference |
|---|---|
| Manchester Queen Black Gold | Queen / Compact series with Queen Tube Filter |
| Manchester Queen Limited Edition | Separate Queen variant with different labelled specifications |
| Manchester Royal Red | Traditional Round Corner range |
| Manchester Red | Classic King Size cigarette |
| Manchester Double Drive | Dual-capsule filter with berry and mint flavours |
For example, Manchester Royal Red uses a conventional cigarette format, while Manchester Queen Black Gold belongs to the tube-filter collection.
The Manchester Cigarettes Full Range Guide provides further information about the different Manchester product families.
Manchester Queen Black Gold Limited Edition Specifications
Below is a quick overview of Manchester Queen Black Gold Limited Edition’s key specifications, including tar, nicotine, filter design and packaging details.
What is the difference between Manchester Queen Black Gold and the Normal Queen Edition?
+
The main difference is the filter and tobacco flavour profile. Manchester Queen Black Gold uses a hollow Queen Tube Filter, designed to create a cooler, smoother draw with less harshness. The Normal Queen Edition uses a standard acetate filter, giving it a more direct, traditional tobacco character.
Does Manchester Queen Black Gold contain a crush ball or menthol?
+
No. Manchester Queen Black Gold doesn’t have a crush ball or menthol capsule. It is a full-bodied tobacco variant featuring a hollow tube filter rather than a flavour-changing capsule.
What does Manchester Queen Black Gold taste like?
+
Manchester Queen Black Gold has a rich, full-bodied tobacco profile. Its Queen Tube Filter is designed to soften the sharper edge of the smoke, giving it a smoother finish while maintaining a pronounced tobacco character.
Is Manchester Queen Black Gold stronger than Manchester Queen Limited Edition?
+
Yes. Manchester Queen Black Gold has higher labelled tar and nicotine yields (7 mg and 0.8 mg) than Manchester Queen Limited Edition (5 mg and 0.5 mg). Black Gold is described as Smooth and Balanced, with a fuller tobacco profile, while the regular Queen Edition is classified as Light and Clean, with a milder tobacco character.

First thing I noticed was the hollow filter. Quite different from the usual cigarette filter design.

Really neat presentation. The gold lettering and black finish give the pack a premium look.

The tube filter is the interesting part for me. The draw feels a bit different from the regular Manchester Red.The tube filter is the interesting part for me. The draw feels a bit different from the regular Manchester Red.

I like that they’ve done something different with the filter rather than just changing the colour of the box. The hollow section is quite noticeable when you look at it closely.
Nathan C –
It’s alright, but I still prefer the regular Manchester Royal Red. The tube filter isn’t really my thing.
